Happy Easter

We had a wonderful week of Easter celebration with THREE Easter egg hunts. Thanks again Julie and Angela for the great parties!

To continue my tradition of giving my kids something handmade, this year I made them each an Easter basket, a cuddly sheep, and some critters and flowers to spruce up the felt board in the basement. Oh yeah, and that yummy chocolate peep sunflower cake.

Weekend Getaway

Last weekend we went to Atlanta for the temple open house and to the Georgia Aquarium. Except for about 15 minutes of strong storms, which led to a subsequent 4 hour power outage and havoc caused by the nearly 100 tweens staying in our hotel that evening, it was a great trip. These are a few of my favorite photos.






Note to self: When going to a Temple open house, do not tell your *very* talkative toddler ahead of time that you are also going to the acquarium. Otherwise, he will very loudly ask as you enter each room "where are the fishies?"

It's potty time...

The above picture has nothing to do with this post. I just thought it was cute. He calls this his "deer costume" (it's really Yoda) and shakes his head so that the ears flap back and forth.

We've been potty training the Little Mister for the last couple of weeks. After spending a few days just winging it I decided to get serious and do The Potty Bootcamp. The first day was intense!!! They don't call it bootcamp for nothin'. However, the bootcamp part is for the moms. I'm pretty sure the Little Mister had a great time that day getting extra snacks, treats, reading books, and playing silly games with me all to try to get him to sit on and stay on the potty. It worked though and we have been relatively accident free for the last several days.

A couple things I had not anticipated...

1) I used the microwave timer on the first couple of days to remind us when it was time to go. Now, whenever he hears the microwave beep he gets up, says "it's potty time" and runs to the bathroom.

2) He also learned very quickly that he could use the phrase "it's potty time" to get my attention (I always drop whatever I'm doing to go help him) or to get out of time-out early. Mischievous little kid, I wonder where he got it?

8 months

Not much has changed from last month...still no teeth, still as cute and happy as ever. Although, Baby Sister is no longer content to just stay in one area, now she army crawls all over the house and anything she finds in her path, she puts in her mouth.

Likes: Bath time with the Little Mister (it's so cute to watch them just giggle at each other), swimming, feeding herself puffs, crackers, and whatever else she can get her hands on, swinging.

Dislikes: Being picked on, staying up past 7pm.
